Today was a stark contrast from the first game, with the teams taking turns leading throughout. In the first quarter, Blizzard kicker Andre Mevis put his team on the board first with a deuce from the other side of the field, with the Rattlers behind 0-2. The Rattlers responded just as quickly, with quarterback Dalton Sneed hitting wide receiver Isaiah Huston for six. They would take the lead into the second quarter 13-8.

The second quarter was all Green Bay as it retook the lead 13-15 in the first few seconds. A Rattlers fumble would allow the Blizzard to take advantage and get three more on the board, extending the lead to 13-20. The Rattlers would respond with points of its own, but it wouldn’t be enough for the team to take the lead. Mevis would get his second deuce of the game, and the Rattlers went into the half behind 26-30.

The Blizzard would make short work of its opening drive of the second half. Now behind 26-37, the Rattlers started to feel the pressure. After settling for three points on its opening drive of the half, the Rattler defense unraveled. Unsportsmanlike conduct penalties on the Rattlers would push the Blizzard closer to the end zone and an eventual field goal in the first minute of the fourth quarter.

Starting the last quarter of the game down 29-40, the Rattlers had to fight to stay alive. It would add another seven points on its next drive, cutting the deficit to one possession at 36-40. The Blizzard offense only responded, scoring seven as well. Down 36-47, the Rattlers needed to work.

In the last minute of the game, the Rattlers added a touchdown and a two-point conversion to bring the score to 44-47. The defense stopped the Blizzard and gave themselves the ball back, with an unforgettable last seconds in the fourth.

Sneed would connect a pass to wide receiver Jamal Miles, adding six. After a review to confirm the touchdown, the Rattlers would tack on the extra point and keep the Blizzard from scoring in the final three seconds.

Crazy fact: The Arizona Rattlers scored two touchdowns in the last minute of today’s game. They continue undefeated this year, going 2-0.

The Rattlers’ next game will be at home this Saturday, April 12, at 6:05 p.m. against the San Antonio Gunslingers
