ASU potential recruit road to 4-Peat title

Perry five-star basketball player Koa Peat arrives on the sidelines during a game at Mountain America Stadium on Aug. 31, 2024, in Tempe. Peat is one of the Sun Devils' potential recruits.

Arizona High School and ASU hopeful recruit has a legacy and going for a dynasty but it’s beyond that, Koa Peat leaves it all on the court and it translates to success for the 5-star hooper. Wins are earned with each fast break, each passing transaction, and the execution of muscle memory to land the shot. Putting the work in on the court Peat does have five colleges in mind and at the same time focused on another high school title ahead.

Peat, a Perry High School (Gilbert, AZ) student, is the No. 6 overall player and the No. 3 power forward in the 2025 class, per 247Sports’ ranking. A 6-8 problem, length, speed and wingspan are a few words that come to mind that describe this power forward, the stats do not lie with Peat dropping 35 points in a scrimmage earlier this month. Will Koa stay home and attend ASU and get another high school title?

The season for high school basketball kicks in strong over the holiday breaks, but after seeing Perry’s overall schedule and the opponents it will be interesting to see what squads are in competition for the three-time defending state champions. Perry has the return of three starters in first team MaxPreps Junior All-America selection, an impressive lineup not just because of Koa Peat but University of Missouri-Kansas City commit D’Andre Harrison and senior guard NoNo Brown. Definitely seems a 4 -peat is possible if the season is anything like the last few.

No clear answer on ASU but Peat has been in attendance at a few ASU athletic events this year and stirring the pot for hometown fans. Regarding the high school 6A title, preseason has been on the way for basketball programs now heading to tournaments and future regular season play. For now, Koa Peat and the Perry (Gilbert, AZ) varsity team are on the road for a tournament game vs. San Tan Charter (Gilbert, AZ) on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 4:30 p.m.
