Durant, who was in attendance with several other members of the USA’s men’s basketball Olympic team, tweeted an immediate response to Biles winning gold in the women’s all-around competition.

“Goat Biles,” Durant posted on X.

He added: “I really believe Goat Biles can catch a lob and finish. #bounce”

Biles started out the competition with a 15.766 on the vault, giving her an early lead. Durant caught up with Olympics host Nick McCarvel after her vault performance.

“That was nice,” Durant said. “It’s the first time I’m seeing her live. I wish I had that kind of muscle in my calves. I’m going to have to get in the gym for that.”

Despite a major mistake on the bars that dropped her to third place after two events, Biles edged out Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade for the gold medal with a strong floor routine to close the competition. Team USA’s Sunisa Lee, who was the defending all-around Olympic champion, won the bronze medal.

Biles pulled out of this event in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics after winning it in the 2016 Rio Olympics. The 27-year-old has now won nine total medals.
