Following the departure of pitcher Zach Davies from Saturday’s game against the Dodgers, the Diamondbacks have made a handful of roster moves.

Zach Davies has been placed on the 15-day IL due to a left strained oblique. The typical return time for an injury of this nature is around 6–8 weeks.

Additionally, RHP Mark Melancon and RHP Cole Sulser have been placed on the 60-day IL. Both pitchers have suffered strained right shoulders.

As a result, the Diamondbacks have traded for RHP José Ruiz from the Chicago White Sox. Ruiz is entering his seventh season in the MLB; he has spent five years with the White Sox and one with the Padres. Ruiz holds a 3-7 overall record as a reliever along with a 4.53 career ERA.

Lastly, Arizona has brought up RHP Peter Solomon from Triple-A Reno to add to their now missing depth in the bullpen. Solomon was picked up by the Diamondbacks over the winter after previously playing with the Astros in 2021. In Spring Training this year with the D-backs, Solomon threw 6.2 innings, allowing one earned run on four hits.

The Diamondbacks will wrap up their four-game series against the Dodgers at 1:10 PM with a chance to improve to 6-4 on the season.
