PHOENIX –The Phoenix Suns officially finalized one of the most significant moves of their offseason, completing a trade with the Charlotte Hornets that brings veteran forward Miles Bridges to the Valley along with a 2029 first-round pick and a 2027 second-round selection. Heading to Charlotte are Grayson Allen, Royce O’Neale, and Phoenix’s 2033 first-round pick.

On paper, Bridges gives Phoenix exactly what its front office has been searching for: a versatile forward entering his prime who can impact both ends of the floor. Last season, he averaged 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists while appearing in 77 games. Even more encouraging, he knocked down three or more three-pointers in 29 contests, highlighting the offensive versatility that fits today’s NBA.

Relying heavily on perimeter scoring from Devin Booker and searching for athletic wings capable of defending multiple positions and creating offense has been the blueprint for Phoenix. Bridges checks many of those boxes. His ability to attack in transition, finish above the rim, rebound, and defend bigger forwards gives Phoenix a different dimension than it had a season ago. Talent alone doesn’t guarantee playoff success, but roster balance often determines which teams survive deep into the postseason. Phoenix believes Bridges provides more than statistics; he brings athleticism, toughness, and lineup versatility that have been missing from recent Suns teams.

If that belief proves correct, this trade won’t simply be remembered as another offseason transaction. It could become the move that redefined the Suns’ identity and gave Booker the supporting cast needed to compete for championships over the coming years.
