According to MLB Network insider Jon Heyman, outfielder Randal Grichuk will join the New York Yankees this year.

Grichuk first signed with the Diamondbacks in 2024 and split time between the outfield and the designated hitter spot. Most notably, he was often used as a pinch hitter in late-game situations whenever a left-handed reliever entered the game — a role he has become known for, thanks to his ability to crush left-handed pitching.

In 2024, the former Diamondback had a .319 average against lefties with a .914 OPS.

During his time in Arizona in 2025, Grichuk hit .240 with seven home runs and posted a .734 OPS.

Grichuk’s tenure with the D-Backs came to an end late that season when he was traded to the Kansas City Royals at the deadline. In return, Arizona acquired right-handed reliever Andrew Hoffmann.

While his time with the Snakes was brief, Grichuk provided valuable at-bats when the team needed a late spark and served as an important piece of the lineup whenever a left-handed starter was on the mound. His ability to work deep counts and drive the ball against those pitchers made him a valuable asset to the club.
