The former Sun Devil made waves across the college football landscape after reports indicated he would land with the Tigers after entering the transfer portal earlier this month. However, many ASU fans were saddened by Leavitt’s departure without initially hearing from the quarterback whom they supported for two seasons.
At least, that was the case until Friday.

Leavitt posted an Instagram story thanking those around him during his time in the desert.
“People got a lot to say, but I’ve got nothing but love for the program and only want to see success… #sundevil4life,” he writes.
Leavitt was a fan favorite during his time in the Valley for his competitiveness and leadership at a young age. He broke out under head coach Kenny Dillingham, emerging as one of the core pieces that helped lead the program to a Big 12 championship in its first year in the conference.

The transfer was not just a local storyline, but one followed closely outside of Arizona as well. Speculation grew after Leavitt did not attend the team’s banquet in December, fueling rumors that he could be moving on from ASU. Those rumors were later confirmed when he entered the portal, signaling his intent to play elsewhere.
Leavitt’s message sparked mixed reactions and emotions among the fan base following weeks of uncertainty. While some fans wished the former Sun Devil well, others were unsure how to interpret the timing of the post.

Let’s remember he’s a kid. He didn’t leave clean at all but he’s also got full fledged adults in his ear that clearly are only seeing dollar signs and that’s sad. Wish him well, thank him for 2024 and look forward to 2026 with a QB happy to be here.

Not really a #sundevil4life if you left to play for another team yeah?

Not so sure the sundevil4life🔱is appropriate, especially after missing the team banquet with no explanation & shopping for teams and letting it get out mid-season. It also seems forced at this late date.

Wishing him the absolute best

As both parties move forward in 2026, Leavitt’s statement reflects his continued respect and appreciation for the program that helped elevate him over two seasons.
