According to Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro, former Chandler High School quarterback Mikey Keene has landed at Arizona State via the transfer portal.

Keene has played collegiately at UCF and Fresno State, with a brief stint at Michigan, where he did not appear in a game. Over his college career, the quarterback has completed 67.8% of his passes for 8,245 yards, 65 touchdowns, and 28 interceptions.

Before the transfer portal, the quarterback position was one of the main areas of concern for the Sun Devils. With Sam Leavitt transferring out and Jeff Sims declaring for the NFL Draft, Arizona State needed to address the issue. Now, that concern appears to be far less pressing.

Keene joins Cutter Boley, a transfer from Kentucky, as one of two new faces expected to lead the offense in the coming seasons. Unlike Boley, however, Keene already has strong ties to the program and the area.

A Chandler native who grew up in Arizona, Keene brings deep local roots to the desert. During his time with the Wolves, he helped lead the program to back-to-back undefeated state championships, throwing for more than 2,800 yards and 23 touchdowns as a junior and over 2,000 yards with 22 touchdowns as a senior.

With his connection to the Valley and the potential to develop into an elite quarterback, Arizona State appears to have made a strategic addition that fills a position of need while bringing home a player who already calls Arizona home.
