Arizona Sports John Gambadoro reported that the team has signed quarterback Jeff Driskel to the practice squad, who is now the third quarterback on the active roster and practice squad.
Driskel’s NFL career path leading to Cardinals:
The former Florida Gator and Louisiana Tech Alum was drafted back in 2016 in the sixth round by the San Francisco 49ers. However, he never recorded a snap under the team and wouldn’t make his debut until 2018 with the Cincinnati Bengals. In the twilight years of Andy Dalton’s time in Cincinnati, Driskel started the final five games of the season, going 1-4, throwing 764 passing yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions.

The 6’4 career backup had a solid first stretch as a starter, but would soon see his career take a dip in his final start in 2019 with the Detroit Lions. Driskel through three interceptions in a game vs. the Washington Commanders that essential ended any hope of becoming a starter in the near future.’

Over the next five years, the 32-year-old would only start two more games across four different teams. Driskel hadn’t been on a roster or practice squad during the 2025 season but gets another opportunity with the Cardinals, who are on injury away from activating the seven-year pro.
Kyler Murray lands on IR, is the era over for Murray and the Cardinals?
