The Kyler Murray era might be over in Arizona:
Murray’s latest injury isn’t just another bump in the road. It represents a crossroads for the Cardinals and raises the emotional stakes for fans who’ve pinned so much on the former No. 1 pick. The issue isn’t simply downtime; it’s whether the team changes how it views its signal-caller and offensive identity, given Murray’s injury and recent struggles. Having a foot injury easily limits scramblers and mobile QBs by restricting sudden cuts, acceleration, and even pocket movement. That introduces how NFL fans feel about mobile quarterbacks in today’s NFL and how they are premium assets.

For Cards fans, the emotional/psychological weight is heavy. You build hope around a franchise quarterback, who has all the talent in the world and is capable of highlight and flashy plays, only to watch him sidelined again. Having their backup, Jacoby Brissett, come in and seamlessly run the offense is a major reason the Cardinals feel comfortable making this decision. Cardinals Head Coach Jonathan Gannon mentioned that even if Kyler Murray was healthy, that Jacoby Brissett would be the starting QB for Arizona.

Their choice has ripple effects on roster construction, offensive design, draft capital, and fan perception. Those views could very well shift in the right direction if Brissett keeps up his momentum. If the Cardinals end up having the same problems that plagued them earlier in the season, the question of “what if” about Murray’s injury might start to get asked.
