Three Sun Devils received weekly honors: wide receiver Jordyn Tyson was named Offensive Player of the Week, kicker Jesus Gomez earned Special Teams Player of the Week, and linebacker Keyshaun Elliott was selected as the Panini Senior Bowl Defensive Player of the Week
The trio’s performance on Saturday helped Arizona State reclaim the No. 24 spot in the Top 25, responding swiftly after a deflating loss the week before. It reflects the team’s identity defined by answering back after a setback.

Tyson’s explosive performance in Saturday’s upset win over Texas Tech helped lead the charge, with 105 total yards on 10 recotions and the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quatrer. Gomez made all four of his field goal attempts for 14 points, including a 47-yarder. Elliott anchored the defense with six tackles, including four assisted.
Beyond the awards and numbers, the honors reflect head coach Kenny Dillingham’s emphasis on player development. After noticing the team lacked its usual physicality, he increased the intensity in practice leading up to Saturday’s game.

Taking accountability for the defeat and correcting it with quick turnaround showcases how Dillingham wants his team to operate. Resilience has defined this group before and it continues to shape who they are.
For a fan base that has long sought consistency, seeing multiple Sun Devils receive national recognition after a bounce-back performance shows that the team cares. From the players to the leadership, the team proves everyone is on the same page.

Every honor Arizona State receives is proof that the team’s blueprint is working. If the Sun Devils continue to produce wins, no matter how they achieve them, more players may receive weekly honors.
Most importantly, the team as a whole won’t be forgotten in the national conversation.
