GLENDALE – As a franchise, the Arizona Cardinals have been disappointing to start the 2025 season. Through six weeks, the team is 2-4 and near the bottom of the NFC, with playoffs hopes dwindling. Plenty of pieces have come together leading to Arizona’s embarrassing record, none of the blame falling on one person. However, a player that entered his third season with hype about taking the next step has fallen short of those expectations, that being wide receiver Michael Wilson.

Wilson’s game logs in 2025:
- @ NO: four targets, one catch for five yards
- Vs. CAR: two targets, one catch for 11 yards
- @ SF: two targets, one catch for five yards
- Vs. SEA: six targets, three catches for five yards
- Vs. TEN: four targets, two catches for 16 yards
- @ IND: five targets, four catches for 44 yards

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray (1) chats with teammate Michael Wilson (14) before their game against the Tennessee Titans at State Farm Stadium in Glendale on Oct. 5, 2025.
Wilson is currently on pace to finish the season with under 300 receiving yards. The former third-round pick was the consensus WR2 in the Cardinals offense. After back-to-back 500-yard seasons, many expected the 25-year-old to take the leap into being a serious second option for quarterback Kyler Murray.
The season has been anything but that realization, still under the 100-yard mark through six games. Week 6 was Wilson’s best game of season, which was ironically without Murray under center. Eight different players caught a ball from backup Jacoby Brissett, including Wilson four times.
Arizona seemed to run more play action on Sunday vs. the Indianapolis Colts, spreading the field for Brissett to find men down field. Wilson greatly benefited from the change of pace and playstyle. Last Sunday’s game could be the turning point for Wilson to ramping up his production, which will surely raise the Cardinals from being the 20th scoring offense in the NFL.

The season is still young for Arizona to change the narrative surrounding the roster and its players. Wilson has the framed to be a serious receiving threat for opposing defense, standing at 6’2, 213 pounds. The final aspect missing is getting open and increasing his production. The narrative could start to change as five of the Cardinals next six opponents are 18th or below in passing yards allowed per game, opening up a door for Wilson to rack up some yards.
