More roster moves are slowly emerging as the Diamondbacks were thought to become major sellers ahead of the trade deadline. Although even after a lackluster season that has included a barrage of injuries, Arizona has decided to not part ways with another key piece of their team and one of the faces of the franchise as Zac Gallen stays in the desert for now.

Gallen hasn’t been as dominating as he once was in 2025, though he still has the upside of a Cy Young candidate. Although because Gallen has had a down year, his trade stock took a hit, and will now close out the season with the Snakes before hitting free agency. So far on the season, Gallen has a 7-12 record with a 5.60 ERA, but will look to shake things up as he has a chance to get back on track for the Snakes in the final couple months of the season.

Zac Gallen’s D-Backs legacy:

Originally coming over in a trade back in 2019, Gallen become one of their key pieces including during their 2023 World Series run and has been an overall leader in the clubhouse. Just this season, Gallen was awarded the Opening Day slot by Diamondbacks Manager Torey Lovullo, over newly signed star pitcher Corbin Burnes. Gallen has been a staple for this Arizona ball club, and will now continue his career in the desert before hitting free agency.
