Last night the D-Backs were robbed of two home runs, and after stranding runners with bases loaded twice, the frustration was mounting. This Diamondbacks ball club has fought back all season though, and they will look to do so again to avoid going down in the series against the Padres.

Wednesday’s mound matchups:

Brandon Pfaadt will look to help get the D-Backs back on track. Pfaadt has been strong at times this season but recently been shaky. In his last three outings, Pfaadt has given up a combined 10 earned runs on 17 hits. On the 2025 season so far, Pfaadt is sporting a 8-6 record with a 5.42 ERA.

The San Diego Padres will be riding with Dylan Cease on Wednesday night. Cease has had an up and down year as his 3-8 record and 4.62 ERA shows. But has been decent at home with a 2.76 ERA. He has allowed 13 hits and seven earned runs in his last two starts.

After last night, Arizona will be looking to get runs on the board early and often and put last night in the past. If the Snakes can find that opening and run with it, they could end up being back on top in this series with a chance to win it. The first pitch at Petco Park tonight is at 6:40 p.m. PT.
