One of the big storylines coming into Saturday’s game is the return of star Corbin Carroll. Carroll will be back in center field and leading off for the D-Backs.

Saturday matinee mound matchups:
Arizona sends right-hander Ryne Nelson to the mound, hoping to steady the ship after a rough 9-3 loss in Friday’s contest. Nelson has a 4-2 record with a 3.61 ERA and has been reliable this season and will be tasked with shutting down a Royals lineup that erupted for 14 hits in the series opener.

Kansas City counters with veteran Michael Wacha. Wacha comes into Saturday with a 4-8 record and a 3.62 ERA, and has struggled to get run support but continues to provide solid innings. Wacha will need to be sharp against a Diamondbacks offense that ranks among the National League’s most productive, led by switch-hitting All-Star Ketel Marte and slugger Eugenio Suárez.

Arizona has to find a way to get back to being solid at home and outslugging opponents. The key for the D-backs will be limiting free passes and capitalizing with runners in scoring position, something they failed to do on Friday night. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. PT at Chase Field on Saturday.
