The D-Backs came out swinging as Arizona was able to take a quick 2-0 lead. Josh Naylor returned from nursing a shoulder injury to getting right back in the groove of things as he smashed a two-run home run to bring in Geraldo Perdomo.

Zac Gallen gave up a couple of home runs to Andrew Benintendi and Lenyn Sosa, and let the White Sox take a 4-2 lead heading into the fifth inning. Gallen ended up pitching 5.1 innings and allowed five earned runs on eight hits. Gallen cannot seem to find any consistency, as his contract year has been a troubling one.

The D-Backs had their opportunities though couldn’t capitalize on Wednesday. Including the top of the sixth inning, where Arizona stranded two runners on base after Alek Thomas hit a ground ball to end the inning. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. tried to get a run going in the top of the eighth after Pavin Smith was able to reach third base after a couple of errors. Gurriel Jr. hit a single into left that brought in Smith to make it a 6-3 game, though right after Jake McCarthy hit into a double play to end the inning.

Tayler Scott entered and gave up a solo home run to Lenyn Sosa, who had his second homer of the day to give the White Sox a 7-3 lead in the bottom of the eighth. Chicago came out with a win in the series finale, and Arizona will now travel home and have a day off before a three-game weekend series at Chase Field against the Miami Marlins.
