Currently, the Arizona Diamondbacks are on a five-game winning streak, and coming off of a miraculous comeback in the ninth inning. If the Snakes can keep this momentum going, they can find themselves right back in the thick of a playoff race when the trade deadline nears.

Father’s Day mound matchups:

Merrill Kelly will look to continue his recent stretch of dominant outings. In his last two starts, he’s pitched 13 innings without allowing a run and only giving up five hits. He has been the most stable pitcher for the D-Backs this season, as his 6-2 record and 3.18 ERA would suggest.

The San Diego Padres will be having Nick Pivetta take the mound on Sunday. Pivetta is sporting a 3.48 ERA and a 6-2 record as well, though he has been knocked around recently. In his last start against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Pivetta didn’t make it past four innings while giving up five runs on eight hits.

This NL West division looks to be the toughest in baseball and the Arizona Diamondbacks just need to keep up and stay afloat, even with all these injuries trying to sink their ship. The Snakes can keep this momentum going by sweeping the Padres on their Sunday Father’s Day matinee at Chase Field.
