The D-Backs will be recalling right-handed pitchers Kevin Ginkel, Bryce Jarvis, and Tayler Scott from Triple-A Reno. Christian Montes De Oca was placed on the 15-day IL, and Jeff Brigham was optioned in according move after his collapse in the ninth inning in Monday night’s matchup against the Mariners. The bullpen for this ballclub has been detrimental to the entire season for Arizona, and currently have one of the top five worst bullpen ERA in franchise history. In a nightmare scenario last night when Justin Martinez signaled for the D-Backs trainers to remove him from the game after his velocity significantly dropped while feeling something wrong with his elbow. Martinez was placed on the 15-day injured list with a sprained right ulnar collateral ligament.

This is coming off the heels of the D-Backs receiving the news of star free agent signing Corbin Burnes needing to undergo Tommy John Surgery ending his season. Arizona recently signed Burnes this summer to a six-year deal worth $210 million. The hits haven’t stopped coming though as now star pitcher Justin Martinez will be unable to help this D-Backs team for the time being. Martinez will be receiving a second opinion on his elbow injury, per Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic/AZCentral. If Martinez ends up missing a significant amount of time as well, it would be a disaster.
Justin Martinez will receive a second opinion on his elbow injury, manager Torey Lovullo said. Martinez was placed on the injured list today with a UCL sprain.
