Missed mound opportunities:

Brandon Pfaadt looked like he was ready to shake off his last start in the beginning. Pfaadt had a 12-pitch first inning, though in the third inning, he was up to 60 pitches. His best pitch, the sweeper, wasn’t even utilized as Pfaadt gave up five earned runs on four hits as the Braves took a 6-0 lead in the third inning.

Tommy Henry entered in the fourth inning and looked decent at times but wasn’t fully there yet with his consistency. Henry ended his day giving up three earned runs on five hits in four innings pitched.

The D-Backs started to answer back, which was a welcome sign to see. In the top of the fourth inning, after walks to Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte, Geraldo Perdomo hit a double, and Josh Naylor hit a single of his own to bring three runs in for Arizona. Ildemaro Vargas did pinch hit for Josh Naylor in the top of the sixth inning, as it seems there are injury concerns that linger.

Miraculous ninth inning rally:

The D-Backs had a ninth inning for the ages. They entered it being down 10-4 and put up seven runs to take the lead. It started with home runs from Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Alek Thomas off of pitcher Scott Blewett. Raisel Iglesias entered after, and Arizona was able to get some baserunners. Ketel Marte then hit a grounder deep to the shortstop that was just able to bring Jose Herrera home.

Ildemaro Vargas who pinch hit for an assumingly injured Josh Naylor, singled to bring up Eugenio Suárez who was the man of the hour as he doubled to left with two outs in the ninth that brought home Vargas and Marte to take the lead. Arizona won by a score of 11-10 and swept Atlanta after easily one of the most remarkable comebacks we have seen out of this ball club.
