The 24-year-old has elite defense in the outfield and displays a good amount of agility, speed, and quickness. Barrosa has had a decent campaign in Reno so far in the 2025 season as he has been batting .295/.362/.495. The noise he has been making at the plate also includes 16 RBIs, 10 doubles, and three home runs.

Taking over for McCarthy:
Jake McCarthy struggled mightily for the D-backs, as he went 3-41 so far to begin the 2025 season. He competed for the starting center field position against teammate Alek Thomas, although now it seems Thomas will most likely take the reigns as center field. McCarthy will look to figure out his hitting situation in Triple-A Reno for the time being.

Barrosa returns to the D-Backs lineup:
Last season, Alek Thomas suffered a hamstring injury during the opening week of the season, and Barrosa got the call-up during that time. Barrosa went 3-for-17 in eight games played while filling in for the injured Thomas. He will now act as the reserve outfielder for the time being, as he looks to bring his versatility to the Snakes. MLB Pipeline has him ranked as the No. 21 prospect for Arizona. In his 2025 spring training campaign he hit .320/.433/.480, which goes to show how deep and talented the farm system is that the Arizona Diamondbacks and general manager Mike Hazen have built.
