This will be the second series already this season that the D-Backs and Cubs will be facing off in. Arizona began their 2025 season at home with a four-game series over Opening Weekend against the Cubs. They split that series two games a piece.

Pitching matchups today:

Corbin Burnes will pitch today for the Snakes as he looks to build off of his first solid start of the season last outing against the Brewers. Burnes went six innings and only gave up three earned runs. The Snakes scored 5 runs in the ninth inning that game to walk off the Brewers in incredible fashion. The Diamondbacks are hoping Burnes can turn in a good start today, as so far in the 2025 season, he has a 0-1 record with a 5.28 ERA in 15.1 innings pitched.

Collin Rea will be on the hill for Chicago today, as he looks to build off of his last decent game against the Dodgers. In Los Angeles, Rea went 3.2 innings pitched and gave up four hits with only one earned run and five strikeouts.

Chicago has a 12-7 record and currently is first in the NL Central, which shows how talented this team is as they have played the likes of the Dodgers, Padres, Rangers, and the D-Backs earlier this season already.

Key players to watch:

Kyle Tucker is a star for the Cubs as he is hitting .301/.410/.578. Corbin Carroll will look to keep up his MVP style of play as well, with guys like Josh Naylor, Pavin Smith, and Geraldo Perdomo also helping out more with Ketel Marte being out of the lineup.

The first pitch at The Friendly Confines is today, Friday, April 18th @ 11:20 a.m. MST.
