PHOENIX — The buzz around a Kevin Durant trade is sky high. Bleacher Report stirred the pot Thursday with a bold proposal, ranking a potential Durant trade to the Dallas Mavericks as the No. 1 hypothetical deal that could reshape the NBA landscape.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The proposed trade would send Durant to Dallas in exchange for Klay Thompson, P.J. Washington, Jaden Hardy and two first-round picks. It’s the kind of blockbuster that would send shockwaves through the Western Conference—especially after Phoenix’s turbulent season and looming roster decisions.

Bleacher Report argues the Mavericks should push for a deal like this because they’ve already narrowed their championship window with the Kyrie Irving and Luka Dončić pairing. While there are obvious risks with a Durant-Irving-Dončić trio—especially defensively and age-wise—the pure offensive firepower might be too tantalizing to ignore.
From Phoenix’s perspective, trading Durant may feel inevitable after an eight-game losing streak closed the door on any postseason hopes. The Suns are expected to retool this offseason around franchise centerpiece Devin Booker, and this trade would give them multiple assets to work with.
Thompson, a low-maintenance veteran and one of the game’s purest shooters, could offer floor spacing alongside Booker. Washington brings youth, defensive versatility, and a touch of scoring ability. Hardy remains a developmental piece with upside, and the two first-round picks provide desperately needed draft capital for a team that mortgaged its future in recent years.
Of course, Phoenix would likely need to take on additional salary to balance out the deal, and there’s no guarantee the Suns front office is ready to hit reset. But as wild as it sounds, Bleacher Report’s proposal might reflect a growing reality: if the Suns want to pivot, Durant may be the key to unlocking a more sustainable future.
