Arizona State forward Jayden Quaintance (21) gets around UCF guard Keyshawn Hall (4) during Big 12 play at Desert Financial Arena in Tempe on Jan. 14, 2025.

The freshman, projected to be a top-five pick in the 2026 NBA draft, plans to seek out other schools after this year. Due to his young age, he will not be eligible for this year’s draft, per the NBA’s age limit that requires players to be 19 years old before the draft.

“[Jayden] is already ahead of schedule,” Quaintance’s father, Haminn Quaintance, told ESPN. “[He] should be cleared for contact in September.”

Quaintance tells ESPN that he’s already planning to come back better this next year.

“I’m already attacking my rehab aggressively.”

With one season at ASU, Quaintance averaged 9.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks within an average of 29 minutes. At just 17 years old, he was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman and All-Defensive teams, the fifth player in conference history to achieve this.
