Arizona State’s incredible, storybook run just continues as the dominated Iowa State 45-19 to claim the Big 12 Championship on Saturday afternoon in Arlington. With the win, the Sun Devils earned a spot in this years College Football Playoffs and now await the rest of the conference championship games to shake out before finding out what seed they will earn.
ASU offense did whatever they wanted all afternoon, led by their star running back Cam Skattebo who finished with over 200 yards of offense and 3 touchdowns. Sam Leavitt was also spectacular, completing 12/17 passes for 219 yards and 3 touchdowns. It was ASU’s first game since losing Jordyn Tyson for the rest of the season to injury and the wide receiving room stepped up in his absence. Melquan Stovall hauled in 4 passes for 91 yards while Xavier Guillory’s two catches both went for TD’s. The defense also made a big impression on the game, forcing three Cyclone turnovers and helping ASU pull away in the third quarter.
Arizona State now will likely either earn the 4 or 12 seed when the College Football Playoff committee announces the field on Sunday.
