Durant finished with 21 points on 7-of-16 shooting and nine rebounds in the victory. Just one week ago, Durant became the ninth player in NBA history to score 29,000 career points.
“I done hit a couple milestones since I’ve been here,” Durant said after he scored 29,000 points. “You always know I got to give credit to the people that helped me since I was kid, who taught me the game. Teammates who passed me the ball, set screens for me. Coaches who drew up plays for me.
“I think when I do stuff like that, I tend to think about them a lot. I’m just grateful that I have such great people in my life to help push me and lift me up when I need them to and encourage me. And then I have teammates that just help build my love for the game, so I’m grateful for them.”
The 36-year-old Durant is currently averaging 25.8 points per game on 51.9% shooting, and the Suns (5-1) are on a four-game winning streak.
Phoenix will next take on the Philadelphia 76ers (1-4) at home on Monday.
