Ahead of the Diamondbacks’ loss to the Padres on Saturday, the Baseball Writers’ Association of America (BBWAA) presented the team’s Most Valuable Player, Most Valuable Pitcher, Good Guy Award, and Rookie of the Year trophies to four standout players.

In addition, many local chapters, like the one covering the Diamondbacks, hand out team-specific awards at the end of each season.
Diamondbacks MVP: Ketel Marte
Taking home the Diamondbacks’ 2024 MVP award was none other than Ketel Marte, who currently sits 4th in MLB MVP odds. Marte earned his second career All-Star selection this summer, while setting career highs with 35 home runs and 93 RBIs. Remarkably, he achieved these milestones despite playing 14 fewer games than last season and eight fewer than during his All-Star 2019 campaign.
Pitcher of the Year: Zac Gallen
Zac Gallen was named the Diamondbacks’ Pitcher of the Year. While his 2024 numbers don’t quite match last year’s stellar campaign, Gallen still collected 14 wins with a 3.65 ERA. Most notably, he’s been dominant in September, winning four games and allowing just eight earned runs over 27 innings.
Good Guy Award: Eugenio Suárez
Eugenio Suárez earned the Good Guy Award, which is given to a player who displays professionalism and cooperation with the media. Despite a tough start to the season, where a potential DFA loomed in July, Suárez has turned things around since the All-Star break. Heading into the final game of the season, he’s on the verge of reaching 30 home runs and 100 RBIs.
Rookie of the Year: Justin Martinez
Finally, 23-year-old flamethrower Justin Martinez was named the Diamondbacks’ Rookie of the Year. Despite a frustrating year for the Diamondbacks’ bullpen overall, Martinez has shown tremendous promise. He posted a 2.48 ERA with 91 strikeouts in 72.2 innings. From April 17th through June 14th, Martinez allowed just one earned run.
