Fan voting snubs Marvin Harrison Jr. despite historic performance

Arizona Cardinals receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. (18) walks off the field after their 41-10 win over the Los Angeles Rams at State Farm Stadium.

Despite a historical performance in Week 2 against the Rams that included four receptions for 130 yards and two touchdowns, Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. was not named Rookie of the Week. Instead, the honor went to Jets running back Braelon Allen.

Allen, who also scored two touchdowns, finished with just 56 total yards, far below Harrison’s Week 2 production.

It is important to note that the Rookie of the Week award is determined by fan voting. Harrison, representing the smaller market of the Arizona Cardinals, faced a tough challenge against Allen, who plays for a New York team with a much larger fan base. For future reference, fans can cast their votes at the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week page on NFL.com.

Neverthless, the announcement of Allen’s win sparked frustration among fans, many of whom felt that Harrison was the clear standout rookie in Week 2. A quick glance at social media reveals the consensus: Marvin Harrison Jr. was the best rookie on the field.

Another rookie who made a strong case for the weekly honor was Malik Nabers of the New York Giants. The 6th overall pick caught 10 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown.

In Week 1, the award went to Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels.
