Ahead of their Sunday afternoon game against the Dodgers, the Diamondbacks recalled right-handed pitcher Slade Cecconi and 23-year-old outfielder Jorge Barrosa from Triple-A Reno.

Starting with Cecconi, the former first-round pick from the 2020 draft has shuttled between Triple-A and the majors multiple times since his debut in 2023. His last stint with the Diamondbacks was earlier in August when he served as a middle reliever. On August 8th, Cecconi allowed two earned runs on four hits over three innings against the Phillies, raising his season ERA to 6.14. He was subsequently sent back to Triple-A the following day. Recently, Cecconi has shown improvement, tossing four consecutive shutout innings over his last three outings with the Reno Aces. With the Diamondbacks in the midst of a four-game series against the Dodgers, which has already taken a toll on their bullpen, Cecconi will provide much-needed depth.

As for Jorge Barrosa, he made his major league debut earlier this season in April. Barrosa went 2-for-10 at the plate before being optioned back to Triple-A Reno, where he has posted a .269 batting average.

Notably, on the first pitch he saw in the majors, Barrosa drove a ball into the left-center gap.

The Diamondbacks have dropped two consecutive games to the Dodgers due to poor pitching. They will look to get back on track with Brandon Pfaadt on the mound in front of another expected sellout crowd. First pitch is at 1:10 p.m.
