Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant voiced his frustrations with how fans look at basketball and the narrative around Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić and other stars across the NBA on X.
Around 14 hours after Team USA’s memorable 95-91 win over Jokic and Serbia to get into the gold medal game Thursday at 5:09 a.m. Paris time, Durant replied to Swipa Cam, who covers the Denver Nuggets for Miles High Sports and Locked on Nuggets, on X (formerly Twitter) after he made a post about Jokić and Serbia that read: “Serbia just took the most talented team in the history of the planet to the wire with a medal on the line. Team USA was a 16 point favorite. The whole country should be proud.”
Durant, who had nine points and played a big part in Team USA’s 17-point comeback victory, replied with: “Where u from??”

The Internet could not get enough of Durant, Team USA’s all-time leading scorer, once again trolling, this time at the early hours of the morning right after a game and before tomorrow’s gold medal contest against France.

Durant was not done sharing his feelings on X, and he had much harsher words for fans later in the day.
“To all you nuggets fans, nobody gives a f— who yall lames believe is the best player in the league, players got major respect for (Jokić), we don’t worship him like yall do but most are in awe of his brilliance. Trolling you cornballs for rooting against us is apart of the game. Deal wit it,” Durant posted.

He then explained why “fan culture” has become so annoying to him.
“Lets talk about the fan culture that’s been created recently. A lot of huge egos who believe they are the reason for the advancement of a sport. ALOT of idol worship, a lot of hate and division based off wins and losses, a lot of disrespect of the work being put in by these incredible athletes, mostly by people who don’t know what it takes to be good at anything besides talking…go do something and get out the way..”

Durant then explained why fans takes “don’t matter.”

Jokić had 17 points on 7-of-17 shooting and 0-of-6 shooting from 3 to go along with 11 assists against the U.S. yesterday.
Tomorrow’s game against France tips off at 12:30 p.m. MST, as Team USA will be looking for its fifth-straight gold medal and Durant will be looking for his fourth straight. This matchup against France will be a rematch of the 2021 gold medal game in the Tokyo Olympics in which Durant had 29 points in a 87-82 U.S. victory.
