Kevin Durant added an incredible record to his already-stacked resume today, becoming Team USA’s all-time leading Olympic scorer.

Durant, who was already the U.S. men’s all-time leading scorer, had 11 points in a 35-point win Brazil today to bring him up to 494 career points and surpass Lisa Leslie’s record of 488 points.

Durant reacted to the historic achievement on X: “Records are meant to be broken, I’ll hold on to this until another great comes along and passes me up…Lisa Leslie you are the gold standard in basketball, I appreciate your love and support throughout the years..much love to you always…it’s all about the gold baby. Let’s get it fellas”

Durant also had a funny reaction to the record when asked about getting the game ball in a video posted by USA basketball.

“A little record, scored a lot of points. Just cause I’ve been here a long time,” Durant said of getting the game ball.

As Durant said in his post, he is chasing his fourth gold medal this summer (won in 2012, 2016 and 2021), which would give him the USA men’s basketball all-time record for gold medals.

Leslie, who won four gold medals with the women’s team (1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008) congratulated Durant on his accomplishment earlier today.

Leslie posted on X: “Congratulations @KDTrey5 I’m honored to have you break my @TeamUSA Olympic record!!! Our dedication to our country is evident and etched in stone!! Now go get another Gold medal my friend! One Team, One Goal, Gold! #GoUSA”

Although Durant, who is also the eighth on the NBA’s all-time scoring list, may be downplaying the achievement, those around him are not.

“That’s Captain America status,” Suns teammate Devin Booker said of Durant’s record postgame on NBC. “I feel like he has every record, every Olympic record. Now we have to get him his fourth gold, that’ll be the most as a men’s player also. He’s a hard-worker. Now that we’re teammates, I get to see it behind the scenes and all he cares about is hoops. He loves it, 24/7 that’s all he does.”

Atlanta Hawks star guard Trae Young called Durant “THE Olympic (GOAT).”

Team USA teammates Stephen Curry, Bam Adebayo and LeBron James, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, also congratulated Durant on social media.

Durant even got his own Nike ad after surprisingly being left out of their original Olympic campaign.

Durant and Team USA’s quest for the country’s fifth-straight gold medal continues on Thursday at 12 p.m. MST in the semifinals against Serbia.
