After the Diamondbacks’ dominant win, Eugenio Suarez spoke with Jody Jackson on the TV broadcast. He said, “I am so proud of myself. Like I always say, never give up. I’ve been working so hard for a day like today, and I just enjoy it. I enjoy the moment.”
Suarez’s family was in attendance for the game. “Doing it in front of my family—my daughters and my wife—all of them were here, so it made it even more special for me.”
Suarez also praised Tuesday’s starter, Ryne Nelson, who threw seven shutout innings against the Nationals. It was Nelson’s first seven-inning shutout since his major league debut in September 2022. The 26-year-old threw a career-high 106 pitches.
“Lately, he has been so good. I’m really proud of him; he’s been working hard too. Today he was awesome, painting everything he threw. We want him to keep performing like that every day.”
Reflecting on the Diamondbacks’ recent success—8-3 since the All-Star break—Suarez added, “We’ve been playing good baseball, and that’s what matters. As I always say, we never give up. We have to bring the same energy and play hard every day. Every game is important.”
The Diamondbacks will aim for a series sweep over the Nationals with their ace, Zac Gallen, on the mound Wednesday at 12:40 PM. Following that, Arizona will embark on a six-game road trip, starting Friday, with a series against the Pirates and Guardians.
