It did not take long for slugger Deyvison De Los Santos to make his mark within the Marlins organization since being traded over in part of the deal that sent reliever A.J. Puk to the Diamondbacks.

In his first game with the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, the Marlins’ Triple-A affiliate, De Los Santos hit a home run, prompting the team’s social media to exclaim, “WE WON THE TRADE.”

Home runs for Deyvison are nothing new. After all, he had already hit 28 combined between Double-A and Triple-A in the Diamondbacks organization this year. The 21-year-old is already ranked as the Marlins 5th best prospect.

Given the Marlins current position in the National League, it would not come as much of a surprise if they gave De Los Santos the call-up to make his major league debut by the end of the year.

But, on the other hand, the Diamondbacks have already felt the need for A.J. Puk. The tall lefty has already tossed two scoreless innings for Arizona. And, considering Paul Sewald’s continuous struggles, which were put on display against the Pirates when he allowed a run in the 9th inning to force it into extras, a reliever like Puk in the bullpen will be critical down the stretch for the Diamondbacks.
