Merrill Kelly and Eduardo RodrÃguez continue to progress from their respective shoulder injuries. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters, including Jesse Friedman of PHNX Sports, that both pitchers will throw another bullpen, with two up-downs and 35 pitches. After the bullpens, the plan will be to transition them into facing live hitters.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Merrill Kelly and Eduardo Rodriguez will throw another bullpen — around 2 innings/35 pitches — on Saturday, manager Torey Lovullo said.
Sounds like the plan is for them to throw one more bullpen after that before transitioning to facing hitters.

Both Kelly and RodrÃguez are expected to return after the July 30 trade deadline, with Kelly aiming to be back before the team goes on a three-city road trip in mid-August. Despite the injuries, the starting rotation has stabilized in recent weeks. Ryne Nelson has played a big part in that, and it will force some tough decisions down the road.
Jordan Montgomery could return as early as the next series against the Kansas City Royals. In his appearance with the Burns and Gambo Show Thursday, Lovullo said Montgomery threw 56 pitches in a simulated game, with three up-downs. There was no further update confirming or denying if the veteran left-hander will start in the series.
