PHOENIX — New Phoenix Suns guard Monte Morris meets with the media for the first time after signing with the team on a one-year, veteran minimum deal last week in free agency.

In the 2023-24 season, he played six games for the Detroit Pistons before ending the season with the Timberwolves, where he appeared in 27 regular season games, averaging 5.0 points and 2.1 assists in 14.4 minutes per game for the entire season across these 33 contests. The 29-year-old also logged minutes in nine playoff games for the T-Wolves, including three against the Suns, scoring six points combined in these three games.
Morris discusses what led him to signing with Phoenix, his health, biggest responsibilities as a veteran point guard, the Suns’ roster, previous relationships with Mason Plumlee and Bradley Beal, his low assist-to-turnover ratio and defensive ability.
“I think Phoenix was the perfect spot for me as far as opportunity and just a chance to compete with a great team, great coach, and get a chance to win a championship,” Morris said.
