Phoenix Raceway announced that it will host “Track Laps for Charity” where with a $30 donation, motorists can drive their personal cars around the same mile-long oval that their favorite NASCAR racers compete on.

All proceeds raised by the event will help support Phoenix Raceway Charities. In a press release, it was stated that “Phoenix Raceway Charities’ mission is to accelerate the development of children in Arizona by supporting education, children and families of our military and military veterans, and life enrichment programs for children and families in our community.”

On May 10, the thrilling event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at 9 p.m.

Here are the requirements and procedures every interested driver will have to follow before being allowed to drive in “Track Laps for Charity,” according to the press release:

  • All drivers must be 18 years of age or older with a valid state-issued driver’s license.
  • Driver and passengers must sign Track Laps for Charity waivers.
  • All participants must adhere to Arizona state laws regarding the usage of seat belts and child safety restraints.
  • Passenger vehicles only; motorcycles are not permitted.
  • Maximum speed is 55 miles per hour and regulated by Phoenix Raceway personnel in the Official Toyota Camry Pace Car.
  • Drivers must stay up to speed and refrain from lagging behind in order to speed up.
  • Track Laps for Charity may be postponed or canceled due to inclement weather or safety conditions. If a cancellation is necessary, Phoenix Raceway will make its best effort to contact guests in advance of their visit.

“This may be the most thrilling way to make a difference in our community,” Phoenix Raceway president Latasha Causey said in the press release. “Driving your own car on the same track that hosts NASCAR Championship Weekend is nothing short of exhilarating, and I’m excited we can channel that excitement to raise money for Phoenix Raceway Charities.”

If interested, you must register at phoenixraceway.com/tracklaps in advance. The address for Phoenix Raceway is 7602 Jimmie Johnson Dr, Avondale, AZ 85323.

Coming back to Arizona, the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Championship race will be at Phoenix Raceway on Nov. 10.
