In his speech, Durant dedicated the honor to his mom, declaring her “the real MVP.” He reminisced about his childhood, recalling moments when his mother would rouse him from bed in the dead of night for push-ups or hill sprints.

To this day, Wanda Durant, KD’s mom, continues to be a steadfast presence, often seen courtside at Footprint Center, cheering her son on during his games with the Suns.

Since that memorable speech in 2014, Durant has earned All-Star honors nine times, clinched the Finals MVP title twice, and ascended to 8th of the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

Last season, at 35 years old, Durant averaged an impressive 27 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5 assists per game, shooting an astonishing .525 from the field. Furthermore, he enjoyed one of his most effective seasons from beyond the arc, ranking fourth in his illustrious career.
