As a good gesture towards the Phoenix Suns before they kickstart their first-round matchup versus the Minnesota Timberwolves today, the D-backs wore Suns hats as a way to represent the local NBA team.

In the Diamondbacks’ X (formerly Twitter) post below, Blaze Alexander (top left), Pavin Smith (top right), Eugenio Suárez (bottom left) and Kevin Ginkel (bottom right) can all be seen with purple Suns hats while warming up for their own game against the San Francisco Giants this afternoon.

The Suns clinched a playoff spot on the last day of the regular as they beat the Timberwolves 125-106 on April 14, locking up the sixth seed. If Phoenix did not pull out the victory, they would have had to compete in the NBA play-in tournament.

In the best-of-seven series, Phoenix will begin on the road for the first two games in Minnesota before Games 3 and 4 take place at Footprint Center.

For the Diamondbacks, they crushed the Giants 17-1 on Friday night as they racked up the most hits in a nine-inning game in franchise history (22). Alexander hit his first grand slam of his MLB career and had five RBIs while Ketel Marte went 4-for-6. In his first start as a Diamondback, Jordan Montgomery pitched 4.0 innings, allowing just one run on four hits and struck out three San Francisco batters.

The Suns take on the Timberwolves at 12:30 p.m. PT before the D-backs face the Giants at 1:05 p.m. PT.
