After making a couple of appearances with the Triple-A Reno Aces, LHP Jordan Montgomery is set to make his first start for the Diamondbacks this Friday against the San Francisco Giants, as confirmed by manager Torey Lovullo.

While in Triple-A, Montgomery struggled with control, allowing nine earned runs and issuing five walks across 7.2 innings of work.

The Diamondbacks signed Montgomery to a one-year, $25 million contract just before the 2024 season started.

Recently, Jordan Montgomery parted ways with his agent, the controversial Scott Boras, and has enlisted Joel Wolfe and Nick Chanock of Wasserman as his representatives. This transition stemmed from Montgomery’s initial pursuit of a longer contract this offseason, ideally spanning up to five years. However, he ultimately settled for a one-year deal, finalized just days before the new season started.

Last year, Montgomery made two starts against the Giants, pitching a combined 12.1 innings and allowing just three earned runs.

It remains unclear who Jordan Montgomery will replace in the Diamondbacks’ rotation, as Torey Lovullo continues to adopt a “play it by day” approach.

The Diamondbacks’ upcoming game against San Francisco on Friday will be the second game of their 10-game road trip. This NL West rivalry matchup will be streamed exclusively on Apple TV+.

In 2023, Arizona won the season-series against the Giants 7-6.
