In his 2nd start down in Triple-A with the Reno Aces, Jordan Montgomery only lasted 3.2 innings while facing the Tacoma Rainiers.

Montgomery conceded two runs in the third inning and four more in the fourth, with Tacoma connecting on two home runs and claiming three doubles off the towering left-handed pitcher.
While the Aces rallied with five unanswered runs to complete a comeback, Montgomery’s ERA now stands at 10.57 after two starts in Triple-A.
The Diamondbacks secured Montgomery with a one-year, $25 million contract just before the 2024 season commenced. During the latter part of his tenure with the Rangers last year, Montgomery boasted a 2.79 ERA, culminating in a 28-inning stretch where he permitted just two runs.
When queried about Montgomery’s potential role in the D-backs rotation upon his call-up, manager Torey Lovullo refrained from naming specific replacements, instead emphasizing criteria such as pitching effectiveness, outs secured, and games won, stating, “we gotta go with what’s happening right now.”
Recently, Jordan Montgomery parted ways with his agent, the controversial Scott Boras, and has enlisted Joel Wolfe and Nick Chanock of Wasserman as his representatives. This transition stemmed from Montgomery’s initial pursuit of a longer contract this offseason, ideally spanning up to five years. However, he ultimately settled for a one-year deal, finalized just days before the new season started.
As of now, there remains no definitive timeline for Montgomery’s debut start with the Diamondbacks.
