Nothing was going to be easy against the New Orleans Pelicans for Phoenix Suns star guard Devin Booker, as he entered this afternoon’s matchup having scored 50-plus points in three straight games against New Orleans.

All game long the Pelicans were physical with Booker in hopes to not let him get going again, and this strategy peaked with a scuffle late  in the third quarter between the teams.

Zion Williamson drew an offensive foul on Booker off the ball, and then Dyson Daniels gave Booker a light push. Booker responded with a shove of his own, and Jose Alvarado stepped in to confront Booker. Drew Eubanks came to Booker’s defense and move Alvarado, and then a big scuffle ensued.

In the end, this strategy proved to pay dividends, as the Pelicans (46-32) won 113-105, their first win against Phoenix (46-32) this season. Booker finished with 25 points on 9-of-16 shooting, seven assists and four turnovers.

The Suns and Pelicans are now tied for the sixth seed in the Western Conference, but the Suns own the head-to-head tiebreaker with four games left.
