Building on his remarkable performance from last October, Brandon Pfaadt delivered five solid innings to start.

Striking out five batters, Pfaadt maintained a shutout until his final inning on the mound. Even though he secured a few advantageous 0-2 counts, Pfaadt encountered trouble after hitting a batter and conceding a weak infield single.

However, he managed to get out of the danger relatively unscathed by inducing a groundout with the bases loaded, which enabled him to conclude his appearance having allowed just a single run.

For the fourth consecutive game, the Diamondbacks struck early, adding three runs in the first inning. The bulk of the damage came from Christian Walker, who launched a towering 409-foot home run into the left field stands.

Then, in the 5th, the D-backs capitalized off a dropped fly ball that bounced right off the glove of left fielder Nolan Jones. With two outs, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., picking up his 2nd RBI of the game, ripped a double down the line to hand the Diamondbacks’ a 5-1 lead.

Gurriel Jr. has had an explosive start to the season, going 8-for-16 at the plate and driving in an impressive 10 runs, setting a new Diamondbacks franchise record for the most RBIs through the first four games of a season.

While the Diamondbacks managed only two hits after the first inning, their bullpen stepped up, holding the fort with four shutout innings collectively pitched by Scott McGough, Ryan Thompson, and Kevin Ginkel.

Next up for Arizona is a series against the New York Yankees, who are riding high after a four-game sweep of the Houston Astros. Ryne Nelson is set to take the mound for Arizona, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:40 PM on Monday night.
