Just as Thursday night was calmly coming to an end, news about former Arizona Cardinals and free agent wide receiver Marquise Brown disrupted that.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter announced that Brown is going to be a Kansas City Chief.

“Former [Baltimore] Ravens and Cardinals WR Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown is expected to sign a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs,” Schefter said.

After being a first-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens, he spent three seasons there before asking to be traded.

On the first day of the 2022 Draft, Apr. 28, the Cardinals traded the 23rd pick for Brown and the Ravens’ third-round selection.

While with Arizona in 2022-23, the Florida native collected 1,283 yards from 118 receptions and scored seven touchdowns.

Brown will be leaving the Valley after two injury-riddled seasons. He played 12 games (10 starts) in 2022 after fracturing his foot before 14 this year as he dealt with a heel injury.

Even though it was believed that Brown and former WR DeAndre Hopkins were going to be a dual threat a few years ago, the speculation deteriorated. Hopkins was released and now Brown departed after not having any playoff success together.

Once he arrives in Kansas City, he will be joining the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Traves Kelce and more elite talent. The Chiefs have won back-to-back Super Bowls.

Losing their WR1, the Cardinals will either get creative during free agency, at this year’s draft or stay pat. They are projected to draft Ohio State standout Marvin Harrison Jr., barring other teams selecting him before then.
