After finishing with 37 points and eight rebounds in the Suns’ 117-111 victory, Durant has now 35-plus points in four straight games, the longest streak of his career scoring this many points.

Durant is doing this all at a ridiculous efficiency after being in a little bit of a slump following All-Star break. In these four games, Durant is averaging 38 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists on 54.5% shooting from the field, 50% from deep and 80% from the free-throw line. Monday’s performance followed Durant scoring a season-high 45 points in the Suns’ loss to the Celtics Saturday.

He also kept up this streak even with Devin Booker returning from injury yesterday.

The Suns have gone 2-2 in these contests and are now 38-27 on the season, good for sixth place in the Western Conference. Durant is averaging the fourth-most points in the NBA at 28.5 per game on 53/43/85 splits to go along with 6.7 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 58 games played.

Oh, and Durant is also having one of his most consistent defensive seasons ever, averaging 1.3 blocks and 0.9 steals. With the Suns not having a true defensive stalwart in their starting lineup, Durant has taken the challenge of guarding the opposing team’s best player night in and night out.

Additionally, Durant is once again about to make all-time history, as he only needs 53 more point to pass Shaquille O’Neal for No. 8 on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

In the latest NBA.com MVP ladder released on March 8, Durant ranked No. 9. Should he be higher up in the conversation?
