The Sun Devils had a strong start to the game, even leading by double-digits in the first half. Senior guard Jose Perez accounted for 13 first-half points as ASU led the Ducks 33-29.

However, the second half was a disaster for Arizona State, as they gave up a 15-0 run to Oregon. The Ducks were on fire from the field and there was nothing the Sun Devils could do to stop them.

A determining factor in the loss is how greatly Arizona State struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 4/17 while the Ducks shot 9/23.

A victory here would have secured the top spot in the Pac-12 for ASU, but they will now have to put together a string of wins to enter the NCAA Tournament in March.

Key Stats

Arizona State: 27 total rebounds, 9 turnovers, 5 points off turnovers

Oregon: 35 total rebounds, 9 turnovers, 8 points off turnovers

Oregon: Field goals: 28/55 (50.9%), 3 Pointers: 9/23 (39.1%), Free throws: 15/16 (93.8%)

Next Up For The Sun Devils

ASU will next face off against the Oregon State Beavers (10-9, 2-6 in conference) on Saturday, Jan 27 @ 5 p.m. MST.

The Beavers have struggled in conference play but are 10-2 at home this season and are coming off an incredible 83-80 buzzer-beater victory against the No. 9 seed Arizona Wildcats.

The Sun Devils will need a comeback win here to regain momentum as the final stretch of the season approaches.
