Arizona Cardinals Draft Slot Drops After Texans Clinch Playoffs

The Indianapolis Colts were not the only losers of Saturday’s game, as the Arizona Cardinals draft slot dropped significantly as a result.

Draft Pick Continues To Drop

The Cardinals own two first-round picks in 2024, their own and the Houston Texans’ pick.

Arizona received Houston’s first-round pick after trading them the No. 3 overall pick during the 2023 Draft, which turned out to be edge rusher Will Anderson Jr.

This may very well be considered a win for both teams, as Arizona acquired much-needed draft capital and Houston acquired their franchise defensive anchor.

Following Houston’s win, their draft pick that Arizona owns is currently 22nd overall. This may fluctuate a little depending on the Texans’ playoff success.

Cardinal Fans Not Happy

Before the start of this season, Arizona was projected to potentially have the top two picks in the 2024 Draft. However, it has not worked out that way as they will now at best have two top-19 picks in April.

Some fans believe the Cardinals should actively be tanking, as their own draft pick dropped to fourth overall following a Week 17 win against Philadelphia.

There is room for argument on both sides. Regardless, one thing that is for certain is the Cardinals were losers of Saturday’s win by the Houston Texans.
