Arizona State is Targeting This Southwestern School in the Transfer Portal

Arizona State has been active in the transfer portal with 15 transfers already committed, but Arizona State isn’t stopping. They have a lot of offers on the table, especially to former New Mexico State defensive players.

Arizona State already got a commitment from NMSU’s top tackler, Keyshaun Elliott. However, Kenny Dillingham’s team recently offered the Aggies’ second-leading tackler, Myles “Ghost” Rowser, and top Defensive Tackle, Sterling Webb.

Now, both players would be huge additions to the team, so let’s look at each one.

Myles “Ghost” Rowser

Rowser is a Safety for the Aggies, who was second on the team in tackles behind Elliott with 69. He also has an interception and a forced fumble. Rowser was originally a four-star recruit who was the 33rd-ranked safety in the 2023 class. He would still have three years of eligibility for whatever school he chooses. He also has offers from Oregon State, Illinois, and Utah. So, he would be a fantastic get for Kenny Dillingham and crew.

Rowser would be Dillingham’s second safety in this class. He would join Kamari Wilson from Florida. Rowser would have a chance to come in and produce immediately, with multiple secondary players leaving after this past season. Rowser could be a huge addition to Dillingham and could become a fan favorite.

Sterling Webb

Webb is a defensive tackle, which is a huge position of need for the Sun Devils. Webb was the top DT for NMSU last season when he had 30 tackles and 4.5 sacks. So, the 6’2, 295-pound lineman can rush the passer and stop the run, which was a major hole this year. Webb fits Dillingham’s type as he is a lengthy, experienced lineman with two years of eligibility remaining.

Now, Webb also already has a visit set with ASU for next weekend. He will be touring ASU, Illinois, and Houston this week. He also has offers from Indiana and Colorado State. He was only a two-star recruit, and New Mexico State was his only offer out of high school. So, the fact he’s made himself into a prospect attracting power five-level coaches speaks to his work ethic. If Dillingham were to land Webb, it would be his second DT of the transfer portal. Former Purdue Boilermaker J.P. Deeter announced his commitment earlier this month.

Can Arizona State land both of these guys? That remains to be seen, but Dillingham has proven himself in this portal cycle, and ASU has a leg up in the fact that they already have Keyshaun Elliott committed, which could entice Webb and Rowser. Either way, it’s very clear that New Mexico State is a target for Dillingham and his staff. Let’s see if that continues in the future.
