The Diamondbacks, even after reaching an agreement with Lourdes Gurriel Jr. to keep him in Arizona, are continuing their search for another slugger to add to their lineup.

According to Bob Nightengale at USA Today, the D-backs are interested in either J.D. Martinez or Justin Turner.

Both of whom are coming off outstanding 2023 seasons at the plate.

With Gurriel Jr. now on a 2-year, $42 million contract, the Diamondbacks have broken a franchise record for the highest payroll ever.

Which, according to their owner, Ken Kendrick, was a goal heading into the offseason.

Coming off a remarkable trip to the World Series that fell just short of them claiming their 2nd title in franchise history, the Diamondbacks have been incredibly successful this winter.

Even as the rest of the league has been fairly quiet, the Diamondbacks have already acquired two new big names: Eduardo Rodriguez and Eugenio Suarez.

Stay tuned for further updates.
