Ahead of their Sunday night matchup against the Washington Wizards, the Phoenix Suns have claimed Theo Maledon off waivers, according to Shams.

The Suns are claiming guard Theo Maledon off waivers on a two-way contract, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Backcourt depth for Phoenix. The 6-4 PG is in his fourth NBA season, averaging nearly eight points and three assists for his career. He was waived by Hornets this week.

Maledon was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2020 NBA Draft.
Since then, he has played two seasons with the Thunder and, most recently, a little less than one and a half seasons with the Hornets, as he was waived three days ago.
After a promising rookie year that included him averaging 27.4 minutes and 10.1 points per game, Maledon has struggled to find consistent playing time.
This season with the Hornets, he averaged 4.2 points per game on just .288 shooting.
Following a 2-12 shooting performance on November 12th, Maledon played in just four of the next 14 games for Charlotte.
