At 35 years old, Kevin Durant is off to one of the best starts of his illustrious 17-season career, as he is averaging 31.4 points per game thus far.

Playing a large role in his scoring ability this season has been his consistency from beyond the arc. KD is leading the entire NBA with a .533 three-pointer percentage among qualified players.

Against the Warriors on Wednesday, Durant extended his 30+ point streak to five games. The Suns have won all of these matchups.

Additionally, he is currently on a streak of 50 consecutive free throws.

KD is below only Joel Embiid as the NBA’s leading scorer.

However, despite all of this, his name has been seriously absent from any MVP debate.

While it is very early in the season, it would seem that his contributions would place him atop the list of many.

ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins took note of this disrespect after KD led the Suns to a win against the Warriors.

Perkins tweeted out, “Kevin Durant has damn show entered that early MVP conversation! You can go argue with your mama, and happy Thanksgiving! Carry the hell on.

In most sportsbooks, Durant is 7th in MVP odds, at +1800.

Names ahead of the future Hall of Famer include Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum, Luka Doncic, and Nikola Jokic.

Is Kevin Durant on track to be named MVP for the second time in his career?
