While the Suns did pick up their fifth straight win by defeating the Golden State Warriors 123-115, there was no shortage of drama at the Footprint Center on Wednesday night.

For the majority of the game, the Suns held a comfortable lead. At one point, they were up by 23 points in the third quarter.

However, even as the Warriors had already taken out Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, the Warriors went on an impressive 22-7 run in the 4th quarter.

The Suns, who had also turned to their bench, continued to make mistakes, turning over the ball left and right.

In what was most likely the most critical point of the night, with the Suns holding a six-point lead, Devin Booker was called for a foul while attempting to grab a rebound.

Quickly after watching the replay, Frank Vogel signaled for a challenge, and it seemed like it would be one that he would easily win, but this was not the case.

Instead, the Warriors went to the free throw line with an opportunity to make it a four-point game.

However, as the saying goes, ball don’t lie, and Trayce Jackson-Davis missed both free throws.

To truly illustrate how odd of a night it was, the Suns shot a total of 52 free throws, easily surpassing a season high.

In fact, almost 1/3 of all Phoenix’s points come from the free throw line. Devin Booker and Kevin Durant led in this category, combining for a 28-29 night at the line.

Combined between the two teams, 81 free throws were shot.

All of these fouls led this wild matchup to go for nearly three hours, despite no overtime being played.

Leading the scoring overall for the Suns was Kevin Durant with 32 points, Devin Booker with 25, and Eric Gordan with 13.

Next up for the Suns is an in-season tournament matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night.
